Trace metals (Hg, Pb, Cd) in water and sediments from Saronikos Gulf in 2017

This thesis took place at the Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry of the University of Athens. The goal of this thesis was to study the pollution load of Elefsis Bay and Saronikos Gulf by heavy metals( Hg, Cd, Pb). These metals were examined the period of March, September and October of 2017, in specific positions in the Gulf of Elefsis and in Inner and Outer Saronikos. The sampling stations that were chosen are representative for the impact of industrial coastal zone to the levels of heavy metals and other pollutive activities. Also, we examined some surface sediments of the Saronikos Gulf. All data which been collected were statistically processed with SPSS program. The main results are presented in this thesis. Generally, we have observed high concentrations of metals in the coastal industrial zone.
