Cultivation of narrative techniques and creative writing through literature.Teaching interventions to students of 5th grade of primary school.
Summary:
The present study focuses on the influence of literature texts on the cultivation of narrative techniques and creative writing to students of primary school. For the purposes of this research, an intervention was held on a class of 19 students of E-class of primary school, during which the way students understood the use of narrative techniques by authors was studied. What is more, the cultivation of their creative narrative writing was examined through various collaborative activities. The survey data were gathered from the completion of specially formulated worksheets at various stages of the intervention and from questionnaires aiming to assess the students' satisfaction with the experience, given to the students at the end of the survey. Results show that students had a better grasp on the narrative techniques of narration, dialogue, description, and internal monologue, while they had difficulty regarding free indirect speech and comments. The creative writing activities helped students understand narrative techniques and make use of them in the production of narrative texts.
