“Problematic (toxic) employees and how to deal with using Emotional Intelligence as a tool in an enterprise or organization.”

In today’s scientific research (Goleman 1998, Salovey & Mayer 1997, Petrides 2001), emotional intelligence attracts the interest of more and more organizations and enterprises regarding the effective management of employees and the achievement of healthy relations between them, aiming at increasing their working performance. The present thesis deals with the ways in which emotional intelligence can impact on dealing with problematic employees in the workplace. Through the thorough search of the existing relevant bibliography, we are dealing with and the in-depth study-selection of relevant researches we will try to find the appropriate solutions, that are recommended for the correction of toxic behaviors and the consequent optimization of human contacts within the working environment. The above solutions, which we propose will certainly contribute to the upgrading of working conditions resulting in increased productivity and overall professional performance. We hope that the content of this thesis, with the information available, the detailed analysis of data in existing studies and the conclusions drawn, will provide a safe deposit for the conduct of future investigations, more relevant to the present issue of our study.
