Summary:
Aim of the present study is to perform a systematic literature review on premature birth, of preterm neonate complications and the role of the health-care provider. The premature birth is presented in detail, as well as what are the causes and the factors of premature birth. Furthermore, the problems and complications are presented that can occur in preterm neonate and which are the consequences for the future.
Materials and Methods: The materials of this study were taken by the International, Greek literature and arthrography but also from the Internet using officially recognized sources.
Results: of the literature review is the search of problems of premature birth and resolving them in order to reduce complications for both the mother and the neonate during premature birth. It is also required by the health-care providers the continuous training and expertise in order to be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of premature birth and to seek the way to act. Finally, the health-care provider's role is pivotal in the prevention of several complications.
Conclusions: premature birth is a very common phenomenon nowadays. Nevertheless, the health-care provider plays an active role in identifying and preventing problems of premature birth, but also in psychological counseling of the pregnant woman by providing useful tips aiming at resolving in a smooth birth.
