There is a huge wave of migrants and refugees all over the world, Europe accepts approximately one-third of the international migrant population and especially Greece. In this study, we organized educational, interactive groups for diabetic refugees, based on culture, health, nutritional needs according to a questionnaire developed for the study. The sessions were weekly, 2 month’s duration, in the context of primary health, organized by a dietitian. 9 of 11 completed the sessions, 5 of 9 were diagnosed in Greece and 7 of 9 needed diabetes education. Their waist circumference was above normal. They were all cooking, their nutritional habits changed according to the sessions and economic reasons without changing to fast food. They all found the sessions useful, felt more self-confident regarding diabetes control and healthier.
