Hemostatic complications in patients with anorexia nervosa
Summary:
The aim of this study was to investigate the possible effect of anorexia nervosa (AN) on the hemostatic mechanism of patients affected by AN, along with bibliographic review of previous research papers.

Conclusion: The results of the study are in accordance with already published data and suggest that in a small group of patients anorexia nervosa does not seem to cause serious disorders of the hemostatic mechanism. However, more data should be collected in order to elucidate fully the disease’s effect. The usefulness of thromboelastometry as a routine test during hospitalization for patients suffering from anorexia nervosa is to be further studied.
