Health risks from the use of mobile telephone: Up-to-date data
Summary:
Introduction: The use of mobile phones is particularly widespread today by people
of all ages. However, their inappropriate and irrational use has many health effects, as
several surveys have shown. Symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, anxiety, and
cancer are some of the most common among users of such devices.
Objectives: This systematic review aims to investigate the relationship between the
use of the mobile phone and the risk of various health problems in each age group.
Material and Methods: The bibliography was explored through the use of electronic
database and I used the following words / key phrases: "mobile phone and cancer",
"mobile phone and health symptoms". As far as the selection criteria for the articles
were concerned, they had to be written in English and related to the effects of mobile phone on health among users of all ages. The articles had to be published after the
year 2000.
Results: The results of this study showed that the use of mobile phones is closely
related to the occurrence of headaches, anxiety and cancer, especially in children and
adolescents. While there was no correlation between cell phone use and cognitive or
drowsiness.
Conclusions: In conclusion, mobile phones should not be used inexorably, especially
during the night hours, because many studies have shown their negative health effects.
Finally, further research into the onset of other symptoms, beyond the most common,
should be conducted.
