Summary:
This Dissertation aims to explain the important role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), with emphasis on its main axes of operation, economy, society and the environment. In particular, with the onset of the global financial crisis, corporate social responsibility has become an indispensable tool for improving important sectors in the corporate business, as well as of public and governmental authorities. The methodology applied is the collection of secondary data from the Greek and foreign bibliography, while the case study is COSMOTE.
Corporate social responsibility strategies, both from the public and the private sectors, are of the utmost importance, especially due to the ever-increasing socio-economic and environmental pressures. Through CSR, business units aim at informing and raising awareness among stakeholders and increasing their customer base and profitability.
COSMOTE focuses on the four pillars of CSR - market, workers, society, environment -, and rewards society for the benefit it derives from customer growth. By aiming to harness and preserve the economic, cultural, and environmental resources of each local community by implementing CSR strategies, the company helps minimize the negative impact of its activities on society.
The Dissertation concludes that COSMOTE's structured and strategically designed CSR policy enables the company to consolidate its reputation and develop its customer base.
