Corporate governance and its dimensions in greek reality.

Corporate Governance has recently been an issue which frequently generates a great deal of heated debate throughout the world. It is gradually becoming a matter of concern to all parties involved in the running of a company: shareholders, board of directors, the executives and employees as well as the unions of working people, the suppliers, the buyers, the competitors, the governments and local societies.
The aim of the present study is to make known the definition of corporate governance which has been particularly important to modern companies, since it is directly related to the assurance of their viability. Furthermore, at the era of financial crisis and economic scandals we live in, the main function of the companies is of vital significance for the social advancement and society in general and in this context it is imperative that the study of the issue of proper corporate governance should be taken into consideration. There has been a report on the trends worldwide but the main interest focuses on the Greek reality by describing the country's existing situation. There have been introduced examples of the three biggest Greek companies which have been internationally presented: OTE ltd, The National Bank of Greece ltd and TITAN ltd. Actually, they have been successful companies of exemplary progress through the course of time and have been faithful to their values and principles by devoutly applying these principles of corporate governance.
In conclusion, it must be claimed that there is a constructive correlation of the degree of the company's compliance with the principles of corporate governance, with the value of the company and the negotiations of the price of its shares. The companies which follow the rules of corporate governance are supposed to be reliable and credible in the area of business and social status, strengthening and confirming their fame. In Greece, it is vital that the importance of the implementation of proper practice of corporate governance be comprehensible and its favourable consequences will lead to the advancement of the image of Greek businesses and finance altogether. Apart from that, the main point should not be the shout-term profit but the company's consistent course of action, through the time, which will ensure not only its viability but in parallel by functioning in accordance with the high-principled morals and practices, it will comprise a bright model for the other companies and it will promote our country abroad.
