The Greek Health System, its effectiveness and how it was affected by the effects of the economic crisis
Summary:
The implementation of health policy presupposes the existence of a specific structure and a specific organization that will implement health policy and contribute to the achievement of its objectives. The particular structure and organization in the health sector is the health system. The structure and organization of the health system has been based on concrete economic, social and political data and reflects to some extent the very structure of society and the way it is managed. It is obvious that the data changes over time and it is necessary to re-design the system in order to be able to respond to new needs that have been created. At the same time, the health system has enormous budget deficits, which also greatly affect the country's overall fiscal position. Therefore, the Greek health system today faces two major challenges: to reduce budget deficits and to improve the quality of health services provided. The recession has also led to structural reforms and has affected the priority given to public policies. However, it is governance and leadership that will mostly determine how well health systems are prepared to cope with the crisis and find ways to mitigate its effects. behavior and attitude, by adopting successful political actions through critical evaluation and in a constructive manner.
The purpose of this paper is to describe and study health actions and policies and how the financial recession in our country since 2008 affected the health system.
