The biography of objects and the role of conservation in its protection and emergence. The case of the exposeing unit Holocaust of the Jewish Museum of Greece.
Summary:
The biography of objects as first explored by the scientific field of anthropology and archeology is the new key for museum practices. Conservation borrows the questions from research of the biography of objects to find ways of acting in order to preserve the cultural heritage. The maintenance of the material relics of trauma is linked to ethical and philosophical aspects of the act of conservation. This work attempts, through examples of practices in conservation by Holocaust- museums and institutions worldwide, to identify the case of the Jewish Museum of Greece in Athens and to find the place to preserve the biography of Holocaust objects of his collection through the actions of conservation.
