Validation in Greek of the patient neurotoxicity questionnaire (PNQ) in patients with peripheral neuropathy after chemotherapy
Summary:
Peripheral neuropathy following treatment with chemotherapeutic drugs (CIPN) is characterized from lack of precaution and treatment measures, as long as handling difficulty, resulting to delayed diagnosis and consequences at the quotidian life and cancer treatment of the patients.
Development and use of reliable methods for diagnosis and follow up of such patients is mandatory for every patient with cancer. The Patient Neurotoxicity Questionnaire (PNQ) is such a method as it fulfills specific requirements, is increasingly used clinically, and concerns patients under therapy with taxanes, cisplatin, and carboplatin. A variation of the PNQ regarding patients under treatment with oxaliplatin is also available.
Validation of a questionnaire in the native language is necessary to render it understandable to the target patients. That way it is possible to extract valuable information regarding the assessment, management, and treatment of CIPN, as well as academic reasons.
The present Thesis regards the linguistic validation of the PNQ in the Greek language with the use of a specific method after the consent of the authors. That way the PNQ is ready for application for the reasons mentioned above.
