Summary:
My bachelor thesis focuses on Euroscepticism and populism in the Member States of the European Union after the outbreak of the economic crisis, with the emphasis on Marine le Pen with the French Front Front, and the SYRIZA Greek party.
The Front National (FN), in the 1980s and 1990s, was a "petit bourgoisie" party, and with the change of leadership in early 2000s, Marin Le Pen succeeded in making it a second party winning more and more young aged voters. In Greece with the economic crisis, we have the SYRIZA party. At the beginning, SYRIZA tried to reach 3% to join the parliament, but then it became a party of power with the co-operation of ANEL, an opposite ideological party, in order to gather the required majority. The choice of these two parties, in order to examine the rise of populism in EU during the economic crisis, was due to personal interest.
