Molecular Biomarkers for targeted therapy in patients with solid tumors
Summary:
Molecular biomarkers are very important in targeted therapy of patients with solid neoplasms. Most of these, such as EGFR, ALK, BRAF, MSI, HER-2, PDL-1, have been extensively studied, both preclinical and clinical, as target drugs have been widely used in clinical practice. Targeted therapy is the cornerstone of personalized medical treatment and offers, over classical chemotherapy, very long periods of disease recession and survival, which was almost impossible in the past. Some biomarkers, such as TMB, are expected to be further studied to provide us with more drug use and more effective treatment. Today, a variety of clinical trials are under way to identify target molecules suitable for the treatment of neoplasms with a specific genetic background.
