Design and implementation of a location-based game for freshmen students in University's campus locations
Summary:
The present thesis entitled "Design and Implementation of a Location-Based Game for Freshmen Students in University’s Campus locations" aims to investigate the use of location-based games in university’s campus locations and the impact of such games on freshmen students over issues in location familiarity. The survey was conducted during the academic year 2017-2018 with a sample of seven freshmen students and four final-year students (fourth-year students) of the Department of Early Childhood Education (DECE). The students were invited to play the location-based game "TeapiTopia", which was designed on ARIS platform for research needs using an iPhone mobile device. Survey data were collected using a semi-structured interview. Auxiliary data were also collected from observations during implementation in the campus premises and questionnaires filled by freshmen students before and after game implementation. The results of this survey include familiarization of freshmen students with university’s campus locations and learning information about them.
