Purpose: The bibliographic review of various studies worldwide on the occurrence of post-traumatic stress disorder in firefighters after interventions in mass disasters.
Method: A thorough research of the published literature on the Pub med, Science Direct and Google Scholar electronic databases has been carried out.
Discussion: The percentage of firefighters who may experience PTSD may potentially be up to 30%. It is directly associated with other psychological disorders such as depression, alcoholism, suicidal ideation that their interaction is the subject of a study of this work.
Conclusions: The mental health of firefighters needs to be more thoroughly investigated because it is an important factor affecting their functionality as professionals.
