Summary:
The subject of this master's thesis is an artist in the broad sense of the word; painter, hagiographer, prose writer, poet, lyricist, playwright, stage designer, costume designer, scriptwriter and translator, sketch artist and cartoonist who filled with unorthodox texts the rectangular frame of his cartoon politics, which he left with his ironic figures and the intense sociopolitical critique of his sketch. The artistic case of Chrysanthos Vostantzoglou (1918-1995), known by the pseudonym of Bost, is unique and versatile, whose artistic production extends over a period of almost fifty years from the late 1940s to the mid-1990s , so he died as well.
Bost was involved with the theater, with a completely personal and unique style. The thirteen plays he has written -with his confession- but also the eight in which he participated in writing together with others, are determined by the language he uses, the desire to overturn the theatrical text and his visual gaze. The aim of this work is to attempt a first approach to the theatrical corpus of Bost, throwing a dim light on well-known but also unknown aspects of his dramaturgy. Of his plays almost half have been published, but what has made him widely known is his three works written with the misspelled rhyming 15-syllables. However, as we will see in this study, Bost wrote a number of non-rhyming plays, which have remained in "oblivion" because they have not been published and/or they did not presented on stage.
