Summary:
The object of this dissertation is to give a detailed presentation of the current legal framework that constitutes the legal protection of archaeological sites as individual elements of the country's cultural heritage.
Initially, the meanings of cultural environment and cultural heritage are defined, and a brief reference is made to the laws that have regulated the protection of archaeological sites so far.
Subsequently, after having analyzed the constitutional framework of the protection of archaeological sites, the new archaeological law is presented extensively, with reference to the decisions of the Council of State. Finally the European and International Law on the protection of antiquities are examined.
