The Right to Life in a Comparative Perspective
Summary:
This dissertation deals with the right to life in a comparative perspective. In particular, it refers to abortion and euthanasia which are issues inextricably linked to the right to life with legal, social and moral dimensions. Although life is legally enforced throughout the world, the limits of protection vary across different legal systems. For example, abortion and euthanasia are prohibited in some jurisdictions while in others are completely or under certain conditions legitimized. Undoubtedly, Comparative Law identifies the similarities and differences among legal systems but its fundamental aim is to enlighten the social factors under which law is produced and applied.
