Crimes against life according to the greek and french law. A comparative study.

Object of the current study is the comparison between the greek and french penal law in the level of crimes against life.
Undoubtedlly, the two legal systems show important similarities, given that both belong to western legal systems. There are observed though, important dissimilarities, which shows their uniqueness. In the first part of the study, there emerges the importance of comparative law as well as the aims of this branch of law. Next there takes place a general presentation of the greek and french penal law in terms of legal adjustments.
The main part consists of two individual chapters. The followed method is the parallel examination of each individual crime against life in the two legal systems.
Initially willfully committed crimes against life are examined and then the crimes committed under negligence, in both the greek and french law.
In the last part, the conclusions of the study are presented after the meticulous comparison of the two penal systems, from which it is derived mainly the stricter character of the french law in terms of penalties, the different facing of the subject of euthanasia, the different approach of the meaning of negligence, as well as the differentiation of the two laws in the subject of manslaughter.
