Summary:
While studying the bibliography of education, it’s possible to observe that a crucial issue that used to trouble and will concern a lot of educators in the future is the educational evaluation. Many researches, scientific studies and conversations take place every day about this subject and the opinions are ambiguous. The objective of this dissertation is to mention through bibliography the most important changes that took place in the area of educational evaluation in Greece after the most recent reformations (after 2008). In addition, the importance of evaluation in education is mentioned. Moreover, a quantitative research with questionnaires was fulfilled in order to gather teacher’s opinions (only from primary schools) on this topic. The final purpose of this research is to confirm or disprove the theories that were investigated in the literature review.
During the research it was realized that the majority of teachers think that the evaluation is necessary in the education field. They accept that there is a negative perspective about evaluation because of the inspectors, but they mention that if the evaluation in schools is connected with the reeducation of teachers, school’s improvement and student’s enhancement, then evaluation is going to be a real ally of the educational system. Teachers do not show a special preference on one of the two most powerful political parties about their aspects on evaluation. They are against the accountability in education and they support that the Neoliberalism οn the field of evaluation is not part of a contemporary school that needs to embrace a more pedagogical perspective.
