Summary:
The diploma thesis whose subject is “Study of the clinical-demographical data concerning the “Frequent Visitors” of the Intensive Care Unit of the Psychiatric Clinic of the Aeginitio Hospital during 2017” aims to investigate the clinical, social and demographical data that are attributed to the “frequent visitors” of the department for the psychiatric emergencies as well as to research the factors that contribute to the frequent and repeated patients’ visits as much during the year as during the time period that the highest number of visits is recorded.
Following a theoretical analysis that is presented on a more extensive level within several pages of the diploma thesis, as well as the research planning-methodology where the participants of this present research are the “frequent visitors” meaning the patients that
visited the intensive care unit for psychiatric treatment of Aeginitio Hospital more than five times from 01.01.2018 to 12.31.2017, we have thus reached several and interesting
conclusions that may contribute to the development of strategic options for the improvement of the provided psychiatric services within the our country.In conclusion the reasons that some patients tend to visit frequently the intensive care units are mainly psycho-social than mildly psychiatric, while the psychopathology that is mainly related to the phenomenon of “frequent visits” is substance abuse. Better treatment strategies of those problems within the community are expected to have a positive effect to the efficacy and quality of the medical services, of emergent psychiatry in our country.
