Summary:
This thesis examines the attitude of the press towards the recruitment of the crash in 1929 in Greece and the economic policy of Eleftherios Venizelos and the Liberal Party. The economic crisis of 1929 began from the United States. This economic crisis manifested itself strongly during the period 1929-1932 and put an end to the development program of the Greek government at the time. The severe Greek monetary crisis as a result of the US crash led to the dramatic Greek bankruptcy in May 1932.
In addition, this work serves as a tool for understanding the crash phenomenon of 1929 and for understanding the role of the press in a period that is a critical turning point in modern Greek history. The topic was approached throughout thethorough investigation of the Greek press, both the Venizelist and the Non-Venizelist press. The critical attitude of the newspapers collaborated with the existing bibliography of the period. The Greek Press managed to bring to light new aspects of the critical and prevailing social reality of the period.
