UNESCO Associated Schools Network-ASPnet. A case study of ASPnet School Programs in Greece, Cyprus and Germany
Summary:
The education of all children is, independently, one of the most important factors in the field of activity of the UNESCO World Organization from 1945 until today. The provision of contemporary and appropriate education, which promotes values like peace, cultural issues, human rights, science, international dialogue and communication between people and countries, is a universal effort by UNESCO. To this direction, the Network of Associated Schools with UNESCO-ASPnet aims at supporting quality education in practice. This diploma thesis refers initially to UNESCO's actions to support education (mainly primary education) in time, and then explores the areas and the framework of the Network of Associated Schools promoting UNESCO-ASPnet activities at regional, national and international level. Finally, a case study is presented on the themes of the selected programs from 2011 to 2018,to be implemented by the ASPnet schools in Greece, Cyprus and Germany, and find out whether these correspond to the priorities of UNESCO as they are shaped by the global context.
