The settlement of Zarouchla in Achaia and the region around it. Heritage managment proposals.
Summary:
Zarouchla is a settlement located in a mountainous area in the southern part of eastern Achaia. It is a settlement with history and monuments since the 17th century. Six temples, three of which date back to the end of the 17th century, three towers, remarkable examples of fortified dwellings in the Peloponnese, and many residences classified as traditional architecture were recorded. These data resulted in typology tables and conclusions for the architecture of the above buildings. From the analysis of the layout of the settlement, conclusions were drawn about its way of development over the years. Based on the data that emerged from the recording and analysis of all the above elements, interventions were proposed in the individual themes in order to solve the problems presented by the settlement and at the same time to help it become an example of a settlement that retains many of its historical elements and constitutes alternative and "family" tourism attraction.
