Summary:
The present Master thesis, conducts an analysis and evaluation of the Heptanese School of Literature (the Ionian School), which appeared in the Ionian territory, had a catalytic effect and left its indelible mark on the spiritual life of the newly-established Greek state after about four hundred years of enslavement from the Ottoman Empire. The present study aimed at presenting the world of children through the eyes of the Ionian writers, who dared even at very difficult times to deal with, consciously or not, as each one considered right, with the most essential part of our society that is no other than the child itself. Many of these spiritual people have written tender and sensual works that are either child-directed or have children as heroes. These works, mainly poems and short stories, can nowadays be used creatively in a classroom and even in our own era, which is full of adversity and alienation in all sections of everyday life, to ''travel'' in the mind and in the heart of young readers.
The last part of the study identifies the importance of the Ionian writers at children's education. Through the dimensions of their work, children can enjoy reading texts and poems that belong to another era but reflect today's demands.
