Summary:
Abstract

Social work is based on human rights as well as on the principles of social justice and on the theories connected to human behavior and social systems. Social work intervenes between individuals and their environment. Social work aims to empower and emancipate individuals by helping them confront a number of challenges with others with the ultimate goal to promote change and improvement on their life‘s quality. Social worker from one part is the link between school, family and a number of social bodies and from another part is the professional who empowers students and their families.
The study addresses the role of social workers in special education and investigates the link between their role and the theory of inclusion. The study examines the inclusive role of social workers in special education through the exploration of their views and practices. Qualitative study is been conducted, using semi-structured interviews with 12 social workers while the data were analyzed by the implementation of content analysis method. The results shown that participants, identified the right for equal participation and self-determination, recognizing the role and the difficulty that the educational system shows against inclusion. Social workers apply inclusive practices and their intervention focuses on personal autonomy and stigma elimination, through practices of empowerment and skills development and intervene on their systems.
