Summary:
The thesis under the topic “The designation of the archeological site of Trapeza and the
contribution of the ancient temples of Rakita – Trapeza – Graika, to the economic development of
mountainous Western Aigialeia”, negotiates the role and the importance of the remnants of the past
towards the development of the local society at cultural social and economic level. It is about an
agrarian area of North-West Peloponese, which as a countryside shows a quality of natural
environment, social-family values and productive potentials, elements which-if exploited-we consider
that they have the dynamic to boost both in the direction of the welfare of the local society and the
protection of cultural heritage. The approach is theoretical, in the basis of contemporary theories
concerning the protection and designation of cultural goods, in the frame of Greek and international
legislations. Natural and cultural environment are dealt with unitarily and interlinked and a series of
proposed projects were designed in the direction of “viable development” ,with respect to man and his
environment. The projects target on the activation of the local society, which is called to open-
mindedly face the challenges of the era and to administer situations that come up in the futur.
