Summary:
The purpose of the hereby-presented research is the investigation of teachers’ beliefs in relation to the presence of oral elements in pupils writing, because of non-regular transition of pupils from speaking to writing.

In order for this specific topic to be studied, there were questioners formed for the teachers of the 5th and 6th grade of elementary schools to answer. More specifically 27 teachers from 6 public schools as well as 9 teachers from 4 private schools took part.

The results of the research confirmed teachers’ beliefs in relation of the presence of oral elements and other individual categories of mistakes in writings of the students. Usage of generalizing terms was indicated as the most frequent mistake in students’ writing in both public and private schools. In addition, it was noticed, through inductive analysis, that teacher in public schools is finding the usage of syntactic repetitions more often. Furthermore, they also noticed the usage of dialects, idioms, greeklish and SMSs-words in higher percentages but in lower frequency.

Finally, teacher unanimously indicate the active and experiential involvement of pupils in various forms of speech and texts of their daily life as the most effective technique for the improvement of the quality of pupils’ writings.
