Comparative study of the phonology and the phonetics of Greek and Arabic: Theoretical approach and teaching proposals
Summary:
This study describes the phonological differences between Greek and Arabic from the following three aspects distinctive features, phonotactics and morphophonology. Assuming that if the language teachers have some knowledge of the transfer theory and a clear image of the similarities and differences of the segmental phonemes between the target-language and the students’ mother tongue, it would be much easier for them to know the language focuses and difficulties for the learners and their teaching would be more effective.
