Parental Behavior, Child Unemployment: Unemployment Perceptions for Parents Behavior
Summary:
This work aims to explore the relationship between youth unemployment and family institution. Greece has been experiencing, in recent years, an unprecedented economic hardship that has led thousands of businesses to shut down or reduce their staff. It therefore examines whether the family today acts as an institution for the maintenance of the unemployment phenomenon. The survey was conducted through the quantitative method in a sample of 123 young students. Through the analysis, it has been demonstrated that the relationship of students with their parents during their childhood plays a significant impact on their integration into the labor market. Students, as shown by the analysis of the results of the survey, who are in a state of unemployment, had better relationships with both their father and their mother during their childhood. Respectively, students who responded that while studying work in parallel, they had a more difficult relationship with their parents. All in all, we would say that the family is a very important means of maintaining the unemployed in Greece and in other countries, with similar economic distress.
