Original Title:
Ανατομικές παραλλαγές των κάτω επιγάστριων αγγείων σε DIEP flap
Translated title:
Anatomical variations of inferior epigastric vessels in DIEP flap
Summary:
Deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap is the mainstay for post-mastectomy breast reconstructive surgery. It is a technique related to the use of autologous tissue and obviates implants. It has become increasingly popular in the plastic surgery community due to the fact that it is a muscle-sparing procedure, which means that the donor site morbidity is lowered. Knowledge of the perforator vessel location and its anatomical variations, by using modern imaging methods, is vital for the surgical outcome and for the prevention of complications. Selecting the optimal perforating artery shortens operative time and decreases patient morbidity significantly.
