Summary:
Children's literature is full of examples of neologisms that are traced both in the course and evolution of the fairy tale, as well as in its title. The language used in them is simple but at the same time documentary, imitates his or her speech and sounds and allows children to use it as a "vehicle" to go to the adult world. The words used are combined in unique ways and very often create neologisms, trying to cover and describe the target word in an imaginative way.
Neologisms use the mechanisms of coincidence, synthesis, production, re-typing, echoimmithic words, or even a combination of some of them, in order to secure a pioneering title of unique conception.
Examples of neologisms appear for the first time in the A.Korais (1782) dictionary, in the one of S.Vyzantios and are systematically recorded mainly in S. Koumanoudes. In order for a new word to be classified as a "neologism", it must meet some criteria, and of course many of them, in response to the demands of society, come to be adopted by the language, while others disappear permanently or remain one-off as in children's literature .
In the titles of children's fairy tales there are several ad hoc or opportunistic neologisms that make the most of the synthesis mechanism. Indeed, there are particular trends in exploiting the deficiencies in neologism. Few neologisms are used in language manuals, and this is of course justified because their aim is not to teach students ingenuity in the language but in an inexpensive way to understand the rules governing the linguistic system.
