Liver radioembolization in colon cancer metastasis
Summary:
150000 new cases of this cancer are diagnosed annually and over 60000 die annually in the US. In Greece there are 500 new cases per year.1
The colorectal cancer afflicts every age, but the incidence increases especially after 40 years. At least 50 % of cases refer to the rectum. Unfortunately and despite the great diagnostic advances that have been made in recent years, the delayed diagnosis is high in the overall, resulting in at least 10% of all cases , the tumor is not surgically excluded and more than 20 % already have liver metastases.2-4
The purpose of this work is to report the usefulness of liver radioembolization for metastatic colorectal disease.
