Self-Editing in Teaching Greek as L2
Summary:
The aim of the present work is to compare two methods of self-editing, code and checklist for their effectiveness and their practical application in the teaching of Writing in Greek for non-Greek students. The theoretical framework of the thesis aims at presenting the needs of the students and proposing them to cultivate their strategies that will make them autonomous users of Greek. The proposed model for this purpose is procedural, which is emphasized at the review stage. Then the position of the self-correction models in the curricula, the training guides and the international bibliography is examined.
The present study was conducted at level C1 students who were asked to check their written productions of linguistic diligence by the above-mentioned methods. Research has shown that errors based on clear and distinct rules, symbol and checklist do not present a significant difference, as opposed to errors that are outside the rules also dependent on extracurricular factors (eg, communication circumstances, etc.), in which symbol-marking has greatly helped students to correct their texts. For this reason, it is proposed to use the control panel for either rule-based errors or directed writing with expected grammatical data. For the construction of the table and its effectiveness, specialization and high degree of directionality are necessary, as student control was more successful when clear examples, instructions and strategies were given. Finally, due to the activation of metacognitive processes from both methods, the use of a mixed model is considered.
