Summary:
This paper describes the effort of a group of three students to support a third grader to formulate an initial perception of the fraction as multiplicative relation of quantity. Through a design experiment, it was attempted to resolve the initial difficulties of the student and to create a suitable environment to express her ideas and advance her thinking. At the same time, an analysis of the effort was made regarding the educational obstacles that emerged and how they could have been avoided. This analysis was based on the final reflection of the group that organized the approach.
