Summary:
A main feature of the post-modern era is the abundance of spectacles and activities, the pluralism found in all aspects of human everyday life, continuously expanding choices and opportunities for communication as well as collaboration. In this paper, we will discuss about performing arts, contemporary dance and performance in the vast part of it, exploring the limits of interaction, communication and expectations that define these arts.
In particular, we will study the body of the performer, as the basic performing tool. Each time the artist adopts many transformations, characters and different identities depending on the context of reference and the need for communication and he creates a bond with the audience sometimes watching or participating in the performance. We will refer specifically to the contemporary dance group "κι όμως κινείται" by analyzing the performance "The Particle of God" as an example of a postmodern spectacle and modern ritual.
“Κι όμως κινείται” is a blend of different artistic styles and techniques that aims to collaborate and constantly seek new paths to promote art and imagination. Their key feature that highlights the innovation and creativity, which will be at the center of our interest in this research, is the ritual use of objects, structures and theatre props that frame their performances and give a three-dimensional use of the stage space.
