Summary:
In this work, the synthesis and characterization of the following Ni(II) and Co(II) complexes, bearing imidodiphosphinato ligands and diimines, is presented. The Ni(II) complexes were synthesized using the deprotonated form of the ligands Ph2P(O)NHP(O)Ph2, Ph2P(O)NHP(S)Ph2, Ph2P(O)NHP(Se)Ph2, as well as the diimine ligand N,N,N,N- tetramethylethylenediamine (tmeda). The Co(II) complexes were synthesized using the deprotonated type of the ligand Ph2P(O)NHP(O)Ph2 and the diimines N,N,N,N-tetramethylethylenediamine (tmeda) and 1,10-phenanthroline. Specifically, we have synthesized the following complexes: [Ni{Ph2P(O)NP(O)Ph2}(tmeda)(NO3)], [Ni{Ph2P(O)N(S)Ph2}(tmeda)(NO3)], [Ni{Ph2P(O)NP(Se)Ph2)}(tmeda)(NO3)], [Co{Ph2P(O)NP(O)Ph2}(tmeda)(NO3)] and [Co{Ph2P(O)NP(O)Ph2}(phen)(NO3)].
Τhese complexes were studied by UV-vis and IR spectroscopy, while complex [Ni{Ph2P(O)NP(O)Ph2}(tmeda)(NO3)] was also studied by pxrd (powder X-ray diffraction). The molecular structure of all complexes was determined by X-ray crystallography. The structural features of the Ni(II) complexes were correlated with their magnetic properties, which were investigated by Direct Current magnetometry.
