Ιndirect detection of dark matter using gamma ray sources in the sky.
Summary:
In my master thesis, a brief reference is made to the standard mondel of elementary particles, the problem of hierarchy is analyzed and reference is made on how supersymmetry can solve this problem. Then we analyze the supersymmetric models and examine how the lighter supersymmetric particle, the neutral gauge fermion (neutralino), can interpret the existence of dark matter in the universe. We calculate the cross-section for dark matter-ordinary matter scattering and we are discussing dark matter detection experiments within supersymmetric models. Furthermore, the indirect ways of detecting dark matter by two dark matter particles annihilation by producing photons are further analyzed. Finally, we compare the theoretical predictions with data from the gamma-ray detection experiments, such as the FERMI-LAT experiment, in order to set phenomenological limits on supersymmetric models.
