Digestive System's Disorders and Fertility
Summary:
Fertility and pregnancy are a very emotional period for those involved. There are many uncertainties that arise, especially among those receiving treatment for chronic diseases or with newly diagnosed disorders requiring surgery and subsequent treatment during pregnancy. Managing a chronically ill pregnant patient is a challenge for health care providers, especially with regard to fetal exposure to medication.
Pregnancy is therefore related and affects gastrointestinal motility. Changes in pregnancy-related mobility occur throughout the gastrointestinal tract and are associated with elevated levels of female hormones. In addition, enlargement of the uterus, due to the normal outcome of pregnancy, displaces the intestinal system, which can affect its normal functioning but also lead to the appearance of disorders.
In the majority of patients with gastrointestinal disease or disease that occurs during pregnancy, maintenance treatment is required during pregnancy to control the course of the disease and to avoid new medications. In the bibliographic study, various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract that affect reproduction, including fertility, the safety of pharmaceutical preparations during pregnancy and lactation, and mainly the outcome of pregnancy for both the mother and the newborn have been reported.
