Quality management systems in public Greek hospitals and certification on the first healthcare region aquitaine
Introduction: The utilization of Quality Management Systems in public Greek hospitals of the First Healthcare Region Aquitaine constitutes a strategy that may add up to the reliability of these hospitals and to the efforts of the augmentation of the Growth at the Public Health Sector. Subsequently, the utilization of Quality Management Systems may guarantee the satisfaction of both healthcare workers and patients at these hospitals.
Aim: The present study detected that the introduction of such systems at the 24 Greek hospitals of the First Healthcare Region Aquitaine is restricted. The present study investigates which Greek hospitals of the First Healthcare Region Aquitaine acquire certifications and which are the reasons that encumber the whole process of certification and how they can be properly administrated and diminished. Finally, via the utilization of questionnaire, the present study accumulates suggestions of enforcing the efforts of the utilization of Quality Management Systems at Greek hospitals and suggestions considering a more efficient collaboration of hospitals’ workers.
Methodology: Researchers collected data from the Quality departments of the hospitals and the questionnaire. In addition, a review of the literature was conducted at the Data-Bases Pubmed, Google Scholar and Springer link with key-words: quality of health; healthcare services quality measuremen; Quality Management Systems.
Results: The utilization of Quality Management Systems at Greek public hospitals may provide potential flexibility and credibility to them and simultaneously to guarantee the satisfaction of the users/patients.
Conclusions: The amelioration of the quality of healthcare services of public hospitals is of paramount importance for both the patients’ and healthcare providers satisfaction and for the amelioration of the financial status of the public sector, especially in the current period of financial crisis.
