A study of the medical interns' attitude in regard to annual influenza vaccination in a tertiary hospital
Summary:
PURPOSE: The purpose of the present thesis is to study the attitude of medical residents in regard to annual influenza vaccination. An anonymous questionnaire was used, including 17 questions. A statistical analysis was then carried out through the questionnaire and the results are presented at the end of the paper along with the conclusions drawn from the research.
MATERIAL - METHOD: 170 young doctors were asked on their knowledge and attitude regarding the annual influenza vaccination. The tools used in addition to the questionnaire were Microsoft Excel and the SPSS statistics software, both used for the process of the results and the creation of graphs.
RESULTS: The majority of participants understand the importance of anti-influenza vaccination.
CONCLUSION: The findings indicate that most participants favour anti-influenza vaccination and have been vaccinated in the past for influenza, while those who were not vaccinated reported negligence and fear of possible vaccine side-effects as the main cause of non-vaccination.
