Summary:
The present work has as its object the historical course of the Vourla of the Eritrean Peninsula of Asia Minor, from the beginnings of the creation of the village until the destruction and the violent abandonment by its inhabitants, in September 1922. It deals with the action of the Vourliotes and the way in which they contributed to the development of the village, as well as to the creation of their relations with the other foreign forces, through their participation in the First World War, in English espionage and front of Asia Minor.
In particular, in timeframe 1914-1922, in which the actions of the Vourliotes are analyzed in interaction with their Ottoman villagers, as well as the consequences they have suffered due to the historical events and the political movements that have been applied by the Governments of the Greek state and the Ottoman Empire.
The main topic of the work concerns 1922, which marks the destruction of the Vourla and the historical references, and is founded through the anecdotal sources and manuscripts, which we investigated and from which were extracted information from the descriptions and memories of the inhabitants Vourliotes, who experienced persecution by the Ottomans. It is also completed with the dispersion of the Vourliotes in the general context of Asia Minor destruction and diaspora in Asia Minor to Greece.
