The delisted firms from stock market
Summary:
The purpose of this particular diploma thesis is to examine investors’ behavior on investing in listed companies on the Athens Stock Exchange. The first chapter analyzes the reasons for being listed and delisted from the stock market. The second chapter describes the investor's behavior and profile. The third chapter analyzes the delisted firms from the stock market and investor behavior. Finally, the fourth chapter presents the empirical part of the thesis where data were collected and used by the official database Reuters and by the published balance sheets of the listed companies in 2017, while for the delisted companies, data were collected from their last trading year. In this study we exclude the financial sector and companies that have been deleted due to mergers or absorption by a listed company. By applying the logit model, the results of our empirical study showed that companies with high liquidity, high leverage, high slump in stock prices and high investor interest of the firm are more likely to be delisted.
