Immigration and Homeland Security in the European Union: integrating the newly arrived immigrants into Western societies in terms of their Islamic characteristics and examining the relationship of these characteristics to terrorism.
Summary:
This essay aims to study the migration phenomenon in the European Union in the years 2010 until today and its aftermath the host countries.
The migrant phenomenon is presented, according to officially available data from international organizations, in order to provide to the reader a complete picture of the size and the fluctuations that it had before and after described as a migration and humanitarian crisis. As the overwhelming majority of immigrants come from Muslim countries in the Middle East and Africa, the study is confined to Islam, which is the geopolitical factor. With reference to its ideological basis, a common ground with European values is sought, as well as the possibility of peaceful coexistence of the two cultures, while studying the relationship of radical Islam with terrorism as the role of jihadist propaganda in the attainment of radicalism and in the passage to jihadism.
The following is a summary of the potential and extent of Muslim integration in Western societies, cultural differences and social inequalities that often trigger social reactions. The analysis concludes by listing the consequences of migration to the EU on the pillars of culture and security. The essay expects to make a prediction, by constructing a geopolitical model of security redistribution trends within the European Union, regarding the potential and degree of integration of Muslim populations in the EU and whether cohesion is at stake under the burden of social reactions.
