Examination of strength and range of motion and post-operative ultrasound in the shoulders of prominent weightlifting athletes who have undergone arthroscopic shoulder rehabilition
Summary:
In the present study, six (6) athletes with a ten (10) years experience in over-weight lifting, with at least a panhellenic level distinction, who underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery due to tendon torsion fracture were examined. Athletes were examined for shoulder strength and range of motion, and shoulder imaging was performed using ultrasound. The results showed that athletes returned to their individual performance on average one year after surgery, and although they had lower shoulder thickness than non-operated, retained equal or even greater strength in specific dynamic measurements while the range of motion was the same prices for both shoulders.
