The role of exercise in mental health of people with mental retardation
Summary:
This study presents the results of selected surveys that highlight the relationship between exercise and mental disability. The purpose of the research is to find out the impact of participation in exercise programs on people with intellectual disabilities, both at the physical and psychosocial level. Specifically, it analyzes and defines what is mental disability and determines what are the characteristics of people with intellectual disabilities involved in the exercise. The role of exercise in improving people's health is then highlighted and the results of studies in which the participants had a mental disability syndrome such as Down syndrome and Prader-Willi syndrome are noted. In conclusion, it seems that exercise is particularly important for these individuals as they have a higher mortality rate due to their inability to participate in exercise programs.
