Summary:
This thesis was conducted in Athens, Greece between October 2018 and March 2019, we
highlight the common cyber threats and detailed analysis of cyber breaches and methodology used. The data were obtained from Privacy Rights Clearinghouse and the technologies used to develop the analysis is R programming language and Microsoft Excel. The results aim for informing businesses and individuals about cyber security and the most common cyber breaches that occur. This thesis gives a brief outline of categories of cyber crimes. These crimes are categorized as crimes against individuals, property, organizations and governments. Various internet crime schemes are evaluated, and behavior of criminal activities has been analyzed. It consists of four chapters: in the first chapter individuals are informed about various cyber activities, the reasons behind them and the behavior of criminals. In the second chapter, data breaches in the USA from 2015 to 2018 are analyzed and a classification of these activities is being made.
Finally, in the third chapter, the conclusions are being summarized from this research and recommendations are made for developing skills to deal with cyber breaches. In the fourth chapter, possible future work is presented and proposed based on this thesis and for the extension of it.
