Οι πολιτικές για την αντιμετώπιση του brain drain
Translated title:
Policies for tackling brain drain
Summary:
The migration of scientists from Greece, as a result of the economic crisis, has been well-known by the term “brain drain”. Brain drain is the definition of young scientists’ migration from developing countries to the developed ones. The main reason for this behaviour is to find an employment. This situation is very intense in our country, during the last years, because of the lack of the necessary infrastructure that graduates need in order to fullfill their goals.
The exploitation of Greek graduates from the domestic labour market is the only solution to this problem. Brain drain should be tackled and at the same time Greece must recover from the current economic crisis, by adopting a new development model, which will promote innovation and knowledge-based employment.
The aim of this paper is to explain the brain drain phenomenon in Greece, with qualitative and quantitative data, resulting from domestic and international references. At the second part, public policies, in Greece and worldwide, concerning the management of this phenomenon, are analysed and alternative solutions are also proposed.
