Public Administration and Reform in the period of Memoranda: The example of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs

In the years of the three memoranda, the changes promoted in the field of public administration took place on the basis of an unprecedented targeting of the latter. The complete obsolescence of its mission and its staff was accompanied by the "primary" project for the pedestal reorganisation, according to the requirements that mainly came from agents and organizations outside the country. Despite its known weaknesses, for which there are specific responsibilities both to civilian staff and to public servants, the association of Public Administration with the economic collapse of the country, only as another ideological political alibi from the Side of the neo-liberal approach can be seen. An alibi used to summarily impose specific neo-liberal options. The intended, however, "debureaucerisation" of the public administration and the attempt to eliminate its social role, which is carried out not necessarily exclusively in the field of education or health, could only lead to meagre results. The Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs was no exception to all of the above.
